Fight For Me
I am not a fighter. I am not a fan of people who “pick fights”. I do believe in standing strong for what I believe. There are some people who oppose everything and those who seem to have no “backbone” or convictions about anything. I’m convinced that when people lead, there will always be people with opposing opinions or commentary. It’s ok to disagree with the leader, but there are proper ways to navigate that without a fight. My friend/pastor recently pointed out that when I get passionate about a position, my voice gets louder. I had no idea. I do want the Lord to lead my leadership. I want Him to go before me, beside me and behind me.
King David was in a fight for his life and his kingship. He was an amazing king, a man after God’s own heart, but he had to fight for his position. There were times he was scared to death and rightly so. The odds were against him EXCEPT, the Lord was on his side. He called upon God multiple times to fight for him. Check this out…
1 O Lord, oppose those who oppose me.
Fight those who fight against me.
2 Put on your armor, and take up your shield.
Prepare for battle, and come to my aid.
3 Lift up your spear and javelin
against those who pursue me.
Let me hear you say,

As I am writing this, one of my daughter’s songs came to mind. The words are appropriate.
“You go before me
You stand behind me.
Every step I take You placed in front of me.
And through my weakness,
You shine Your faithfulness
So in all I do I just let You be You

The bottom line, is I need the Lord every day to go before me. He sometimes fights for me and I didn’t even see the battle or know that there was one. I need Him to fight for me today and every day. I want His help and His protection. Victory comes in surrender to Him and His leadership in my life.
