False Witness

It is really crazy how people will “straight-up” lie in a court of law right after swearing to “tell the truth and nothing but the truth”. There are innocent people who sometimes have a hard time proving their innocence because of lies and false testimony. I sometimes wish we had stronger consequences in place to stop the lies and perjury that appears in our justice system.

I have always told my children growing up that the truth is what I need to know. I will get more upset if you lie to me than whatever rule or code you have broken.  The Lord was determined as the nation of Israel formed government and the rule of law that truth be the foundation. Check this out….

16 “If a malicious witness comes forward and accuses someone of a crime, 17 then both the accuser and accused must appear before the Lord by coming to the priests and judges in office at that time. 18 The judges must investigate the case thoroughly. If the accuser has brought false charges against his fellow Israelite, 19 you must impose on the accuser the sentence he intended for the other person. In this way, you will purge such evil from among you. 20 Then the rest of the people will hear about it and be afraid to do such an evil thing. (Deuteronomy 19:18-20 NLT)

What if everyone told the truth in every situation?

The truth is sometimes hard to hear. I believe that there is a gentle way to convey hard truth. Abraham Lincoln was described as “a man of velvet steel”. He was firm, but gentle and kind.

I want to always be humble, gentle and kind, but I also want to live by my convictions. One of my convictions is to always tell the truth, no matter how hard it is. It is easier said than done in some cases, where I’ve been stupid with my choices.  I need to be positive witness for The Lord. I need my private life and my public life to be one and the same. I need to be an honest witness full of truth because His Word is truth. He wants me stand on the truth of His Word and His Word is clear regarding lies and false testimony.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
