Everything

This is one of those words that are absolute. There are not exceptions to everything. If there are exceptions, then it’s the wrong word to use… “almost everything” would be more accurate. There are times when an absolute word is called for. Please know that I’m not an English major. I do pay attention to words that describe the Lord. I have walked with Him for a long time, and I have a good list of absolutes that describe Him.

This morning I came across an absolute word that the crowd of people who witnessed a miracle and heard His teaching used to describe the activities of Jesus. Check this out…

36 Jesus told the crowd not to tell anyone, but the more he told them not to, the more they spread the news. 37 They were completely amazed and said again and again, “Everything he does is wonderful. He even makes the deaf to hear and gives speech to those who cannot speak.” (Mark 7”36-37 NLT)

I began thinking about this phrase “everything He does is wonderful” – I believe it is true. He doesn’t do things by accident. He does things on purpose.  I should qualify my behavior and say that NOT everything I do is wonderful. I have made enough blunders and mistakes for ten people. I have done a lot of things that are terrible NOT wonderful. I have said things, I have done things, I have thought things – He has forgiven EVERYTHING I’ve done. There is not one mistake or sin that I’ve been part of that has escaped His forgiveness. His Grace has found me is some dark places. He’s restored me time and again.  I agree that everything He does is wonderful. I’m grateful for everything He’s done and is doing for me.  This list of everything He’s done and is doing is very long and would be impossible to compile in one setting.

I want to practice gratitude to Him for everything He’s doing and all that He has already done. Everything that has happened in my life isn’t wonderful, but everything He does is wonderful. He has made beautiful things come out of ugly messes and mistakes of mine. I’m humbled and thankful that He loves me and forgives me for everything.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
