Each Season

I am excited to see winter come to a close. Spring is around the corner. I can feel it almost daily as the seasons begin to change. There are flowers that are starting to bud and bloom. Here in Georgia, we will have some pollen as things start coming to life.

I was reading in Psalm 1 this morning about being like a tree planted by the water and I saw a line that I had somehow missed before. Check this out….

Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
    or stand around with sinners,
    or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
    bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

But not the wicked!
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the Lord watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. (Psalm 1:1-6 NLT)

I think like is made up of “seasons” much like our year is made up of four seasons. I think my life has had way more than four seasons. The season I’m currently in is a bit hard. I’m still grieving the loss of a dear friend and partner. I still have tons of work to do and things that need my attention. I sometimes just feel tired and worn down. This is a season. It won’t last forever. Seasons come and go.

I want to be faithful to seek the Lord in His Word in EVERY season that I find myself in. I believe that I can have a godly perspective on whatever season I’m in IF I’m grounded in His Word.

This simple line gave me hope and inspired me to think that I could bear fruit in each season. I’m optimistic that the Lord is using me even today as I currently walk through a hard season for me.  I’m looking up because He is always near, and help is always simply a prayer away.
