Do Not Deviate

There are instructions that I should follow in great detail. There are other instructions that I’m allowed a little freedom to expand or subtract from the instructions. For example, if I’m making a chicken casserole, I should be careful to put all the ingredients that are called for. On the other hand, if I’m making cookies and I want to add a little sugar on top to make them sweeter, I have the freedom to do that.

Joshua is getting old and about to die. He gives a few final instructions to his people. He reminds them of where they’ve come from and how the Lord has delivered them time and again. He reminds them of the Lord’s Presence and how valuable it is. Check this out….

“So be very careful to follow everything Moses wrote in the Book of Instruction. Do not deviate from it, turning either to the right or to the left. (Joshua 23:6 NLT)

I believe the Lord calls me to follow His ways and His will for me. I believe He wants me to live an honorable life. I believe He wants to be consulted in ALL of my decisions. He wants to counsel and advise me in every situation. He has a plan for my life, and He wants me to walk in. He wants me to follow His instructions and not deviate from them. He calls me to love like He loves and give like Him.  I’m seeking His heart today and I need His wisdom and discernment throughout my day. I am helpless without Him. With Him, I can be strong, confident, decisive and focused.

Pressing On!
