Definitely Defiant

I remember disobeying my parents. I remember disobeying God. I remember breaking the law by speeding. The word defiant means boldly resistant to something. I’ve seen kids defiant to their parents, teachers, law enforcement and anyone else in authority. I have been defiant even to God. I’m not proud of my decisions, but I do own them. I have repented of my defiance. I believe that scripture is crystal clear that defiance leads to damnation. There is this thing called GRACE that Jesus brought with Him. I have been known to ignore that too. I’m so thankful that the Lord has exercised great patience with me.

The people who fled from Judah against the Lords instructions are now being called out by Jeremiah. He explained that if they don’t stop worshipping idols and burning incense in worship to these idols that they and all of their family will die. Their response is definitely defiant.  Check this out…

15 Then all the women present and all the men who knew that their wives had burned incense to idols—a great crowd of all the Judeans living in northern Egypt and southern Egypt—answered Jeremiah, 16 “We will not listen to your messages from the Lord! 17 We will do whatever we want. We will burn incense and pour out liquid offerings to the Queen of Heaven just as much as we like—just as we, and our ancestors, and our kings and officials have always done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For in those days we had plenty to eat, and we were well off and had no troubles! (Jeremiah 44:15-17 NLT)

This position against the Lord has some history. I have the opportunity to see how this turned out for them. The Lord is The Creator of all life as we know it. He sustains life. I believe life is precious to Him so this punishment against defiant is not something He takes lightly.

I want to start each day being thankful for His Presence in me and His Grace that covers my stupidity and sin. I have profound respect for the Lord and His call upon my life. I want to be openly obedient instead of secretly or openly defiant.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
