Daily Presence

I’ve been trying to practice the Presence of God in my daily journey for many years now. I don’t know of a secret formula or a trick to it. I decided several years ago that I would get up a bit earlier, while the house was still quiet from the night and spend time reading the Word and asking the Lord to speak into my heart. I’m not sure when I started doing this. Later, I felt the Lord prompting to journal a response to what I had read. That was the beginning of my blog. I don’t do this to be noticed by others. I do this every morning to seek the Presence of God and welcome Him into my heart as I begin a new day. There is Power in His Presence for sure. He can calm my heart in the loudest chaos or in the quiet of my office. He can give peace when there seems to be no answer or even a clue as to how to navigate tricky situations. I’m thankful for His Presence in me over the years. His Word is powerful, but His Presence in me seems almost as tangible as holding His Word as I read it. I can’t quite describe it in words.

Moses and the people of Israel spent some time the be foot of Mt. Sinai after crossing the red sea. I think the Lord had several “housekeeping” ideas for how they were to function as a society/nation.  Moses is their leader and he is walking closely with the Lord. He is practicing Presence of the Lord. Check this out….

12 One day Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Take these people up to the Promised Land.’ But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ 13 If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.”

14 The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”

15 Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. 16 How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.” (Exodus 33:12-16 NLT)

All of this was happening with God’s people prior to Jesus coming as the Savior of the World. When Jesus came, He promised The Comforter, also known as The Holy Spirit or the very Spirit of God Himself.  When I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit was a gift from the Father. I can’t go anywhere where His Presence can’t go with me.  I believe that The Spirit of God, also known as The Presence of God, is a huge game-changer for my life. I believe that His Presence in me gives me wisdom and insight that without Him wouldn’t be available. I believe His Presence is Supernatural and hard to explain. I don’t think His Presence makes me Superman or anything like that, but He has changed EVERYTHING about me. There isn’t a part of my life that hasn’t been touched by His Presence.

Holy Spirit You Are Welcome Here  by Kim Walker Smith

I’m doing my best to pay close attention to the Presence of The Lord in me today and everyday as live out my life here on earth.

Pressing On!
