Continue

I used to hate watching a television show and then at the end it says, “to be continued”. I like streaming things now because to be continued can happen in just a few seconds as I open the next season of the show.  The word continue means: “persist in an activity or process” or “recommence or resume after interruption”.  There are some other words that are similar to the word continue… endure, last, and persist.

I came across this word continue as I was reading about Jesus’ resurrection in the book of John this morning. Jesus has risen and appeared to His disciples.  John is wrapping up his account of Jesus’ life and ministry. Check this out….

30 The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name. (John 20:30-31 NLT)

Those three words: “you may continue” really jumped in my lap this morning. These three words imply following Jesus already. I want to continue to believe that Jesus is the One and ONLY Son of God. I want to continue to experience the power of His Name and the power of His Presence in me.

I want to continue seeking Him.

I want to continue serving Him.

I want to continue believing in Him.

I want to continue walking with Him.

I want to continue reading and studying the Word of God because He gives me life and purpose.

His Presence in me grows as I continue to believe in Him and follow Him.

Pressing On! (aka… “continuing on”!)

Dwayne
