Confident Heart

There is a big difference in confident and arrogant. Confidence is self-assurance and certain of one’s own abilities. Arrogant, on the other hand is laced with over-the-top pride and a sense of superiority and self-importance. I really strive to be confident, but never arrogant. There is a pretty thin line in the perception of confidence versus arrogance. I have made the mistake of thinking a person was arrogant because of their confidence and then after hearing them speak, I realize that they are simply confident.

I’ve become confident in my work. I continue to study, learn and grow as a professional REALTOR. I don’t believe that excellence happens by accident. I have also seen arrogance that posed as confidence.  I think it’s important to note that without the Lord, I would be nothing. I can be on top of my game as a professional and be miserable as a person. I want the foundation of my soul to be rooted in my faith in God. I want to live confidently with His Presence and His Power accompanying me every day and in every situation. Check this out….

My heart is confident in you, O God;
no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart!
Wake up, lyre and harp!
I will wake the dawn with my song.
I will thank you, Lord, among all the people.
I will sing your praises among the nations.
For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens.
May your glory shine over all the earth. (Psalm 108:1-5 NLT)

My confidence comes from my journey with the Lord. He leads me. He speaks into my life. He prompts me to speak. He helps me keep my mouth closed at times. He directs me to wise people. I want to continue to walk with Him every single day of my life. I don’t want one day to go by without Him. He directs me as a husband, Dad, son, friend, church leader, REALTOR, business partner – every single relationship that I have is subject to my relationship with Him.

This Psalm reminded me of this song that I really appreciate. “Your Love Oh Lord”by Third Day.

Your love, oh Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness
Stretches to the skies
Your righteousness is
Like the mighty mountain, yeah
Your justice flows like
The ocean’s tides

I will lift my voice
To worship You, my King
I will find my strength
In the shadow of Your wings
