Committment

I have committed my life to the Lord several years ago. I have found that it’s not a “one and done” type commitment. I woke up this morning and started taking in the sunrise. As I read about the people of Israel and Moses’ final instructions from the Lord, I was convicted that maybe my commitment to the Lord is not as strong as I’d like to think. I’m really grateful that I’m not being asked to sacrifice an animal for my sin.  I do feel like repentance might be a bit more “in my face” if I had to kill an innocent animal because of my selfishness and pride. Sin boils down to selfishness and pride.

Moses is reviewing with this new generation of people the instructions regarding the special holy days that God wants His people to be aware of. So many of these people now leading their families were not the leaders of their family, so the review is helpful.

39 “You must present these offerings to the Lord at your annual festivals. These are in addition to the sacrifices and offerings you present in connection with vows, or as voluntary offerings, burnt offerings, grain offerings, liquid offerings, or peace offerings.”

40 So Moses gave all of these instructions to the people of Israel as the Lord had commanded him. (Numbers 29:39-40 NLT)

I need to remember my commitment to the Lord. I could stand to be reminded of it daily. Our church is doing a series called “Reset”. Each day is a new day to connect with the Lord and discover more of His Plan for my life. I often need a daily “reset” before the Lord.

I’ve committed to living each day for the rest of my life for Him. It starts in the early morning and continues throughout the day.  The hours of today soon complete one day, and the days put together make a week. A week becomes a month and 12 months become one year. I believe that my commitment is a daily exercise in discipline and a steady journey with the Lord each day. I want my daily to commitment to turn into a life-long walk with the Lord.

Pressing On!
