Commendation

This word means to compliment or acknowledge.  A commendation is often given for an action that deserves to be noticed and noted. For example, a soldier would receive a commendation because of brave behavior in battle. Many of the awards in our military are commendations connected to a specific action.  In sports, there are awards given like “MVP – Most Valuable Player”, or “Defensive player of the year”.

Paul writes in his second letter to the church at Corinth about his mindset and motivation for writing and visiting this church. He ends chapter 10 with a sentence that packs a punch. Check this out…

If I have to tell others how humble and amazing I am – I’m not very humble and I’m likely not very amazing either.

If I am commended for anything, it’s because of Christ in me.

If I am recommended for anything, it’s because of Christ in me.

I want every part of my behavior to reflect Christ in me.  I want humility to ooze out of every fiber of my being. Jesus, held the very Power of God, but His Presence was so humble as He served others and taught others.  He is worthy of the highest commendation I could possibly give!
