Clear Distinction

There are times when it’s hard to distinguish between two people. They look alike. They walk alike. They talk alike – they could be twins!  I can act like others and often look like others. My style of clothing is similar. I can blend in with the best of them.

I believe the Lord wants me to look different than people of the world.

I believe the Lord wants me to talk different than other people.

Moses and Aaron were meeting with Pharoah at God’s instructions asking him to let the Israelites go into the desert to worship the Lord. He was stubborn and refused. The Lord sent plagues to remind Pharoah of the power of God. Usually, the plagues affected everyone. This time the Lord did something different. Check this out…..

20 Then the Lord told Moses, “Get up early in the morning and stand in Pharaoh’s way as he goes down to the river. Say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so they can worship me. 21 If you refuse, then I will send swarms of flies on you, your officials, your people, and all the houses. The Egyptian homes will be filled with flies, and the ground will be covered with them. 22 But this time I will spare the region of Goshen, where my people live. No flies will be found there. Then you will know that I am the Lord and that I am present even in the heart of your land. 23 I will make a clear distinction between my people and your people. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.’” (Exodus 8:20-23 NLT)

I want to connect with others.

I want to relate to others.

I do want it to be clear that I’m a follower of God. I just don’t want to be “so heavenly bound that I’m no earthly good to anyone.”  I want to be in this world but not of this world. I want to be approachable. I want to be a good listener. If I give counsel, I want it to be from the Lord.

My belief system can be strong, but if my behaviors don’t look any different, then there is no clear distinction between me and someone else who doesn’t follow the Lord.  I’m not looking to be noticed for being weird or different, but I do want others to notice Christ in me!

Pressing On!

Dwayne
