Clear
This word can be an adjective, verb, adverb or a noun. After a word jumps into my lap from scripture, I will often look up the definition of the word to give me clarity on the actual definition versus the one that is in my head when I see the word. I wasn’t prepared for what I’d find when I looked up the word “clear”. There were over 73 different definitions of the word “clear”, depending on what form it is used in a sentence. So, then I became “unclear” as to the definition of the word. (LOL)
I was reading in Revelation about this special scene that John describes where the people of heaven were getting ready for a huge wedding feast. The scene was electric with excitement. John actually gets so amped up that he falls in worship of the angel/messenger. The angel says something that really spoke to me as he engages John. Check this out…
9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”
10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”(Revelation 19:9-10 NLT)
That last line of verse 10 jumped into my lap this morning. I’ve heard prophesy over the years by many people. I’ve heard various interpretations of the book of Revelation. I’ve heard various interpretations of this scene in heaven. Sometime, the interpretations that I’ve heard are anything but clear. I am a simple man. I try to understand things of God as a child of His before Him. I don’t think His Word is complicated and weird. I believe His message is clear. He is all about forgiveness and grace. He has made a way for me to return from my stupid choices when I veer away from His plan for my life. As I read His Word, I see His character and His heart for His kids. His love is beyond profound. His love is relentless. He really wants me to clearly see and know of His love for me. There are so many books written about specific verses in the Word of God. To me, the Word isn’t complicated at all. The entirety of scripture, points to Jesus, the One and Only Son of God. He loved so much that He came and walked this earth teaching us about the Father and the Fathers love. He demonstrated God’s love when He became the final sacrifice for sin. It is simple and easy to find God. He made it easy and clear. Anyone who makes it complicated and hard, are putting themselves into the salvation process as the gatekeeper. I believe that the Word is clear in giving witness to Jesus as the Way to the Father.
I pray that the words I speak and the words I write that give witness to Jesus are clear and understandable. His love is amazing and beyond describing, but it is also so easy to attain and surrender too. I want my life to be a clear witness for Jesus.
Pressing On!
