Change

I’ve learned over the years that the only thing that is really consistent is change. Everything changes at some point. Everyone I know changes. My life is filled with change. Some changes really bother me, while other change is really normal. It bothers me more when others change than when I change. My children have changed and are continuing to change. They are maturing and growing up. I’m not a fan of change when a friend is hurt, gets sick or even dies. When I reflect on my journey this week compared to last week, there were lots of changes and most of them were outside of my control panel.

Things changed in the relationship with the Egyptians and the family of Joseph. A new king came to the throne and everything changed. Check this out….

Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them.

Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt.9 “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous for us. 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.”(Exodus 1:6-10 NLT)

Things were about to get really hard for the nation of Israel. Their faith was about to be put to the test. Their resolve was about to be tested. Change reveals some things about me. Some of the things it reveals are not always positive. I sometimes react to change instead of respond. React is usually negative and respond is usually positive.  When there is change that I see coming, I’m usually ready. I expect that there will be changes that I fact even today that I didn’t see coming. I am learning that when I remain faithful to the Lord and His call upon my heart, I can navigate any change in life or in circumstances. He didn’t promise that my life with be easy, but He did promise to ALWAYS be with me. The Lord often does some of His best work in me when things are happening outside of my control panel and I have to hold on to Him and trust Him.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
