Bones

I have watched a TV show called “Bones” a few times. The show is based on the premise that this guy can get clues to death from bones. Our bones are interesting parts of our whole body. We can’t function without them and they are fragile enough to break and need repair. There are entire medical practices based on Orthopedic medicine – specializing in treatment and repair of bone tissue.

One of my favorite stories the Old Testament is described in two verses tucked inside the changing of kings of Israel. I would have loved to know more about this guy. Check this out….

20 Then Elisha died and was buried.

Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring. 21 Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the corpse into the tomb of Elisha and fled. But as soon as the body touched Elisha’s bones, the dead man revived and jumped to his feet! (2 Kings 13:20-21 NLT)

I would like to ask this guy some questions. I think there might be quite a story to tell.

This passage is especially close to me because we’ve been singing a song about God moving in the church and in the world. The song is call “Rattle” by Elevation Worship.

My God is able to save and deliver and heal
And restore anything that He wants to
Just ask the man who was thrown
On the bones of Elisha
If there’s anything that He can’t do
Just ask the stone that was rolled
At the tomb in the garden
What happens when God says to move

The Lord can do some crazy thing through my life and in my bones.

The Lord wants to move and work in my life. I need to listen – pay attention to what He’s calling me to do.

If the Lord can raise a man who is dead because his body simply touches the bones of Elisha, He can do anything.

I want to be keenly aware of how the Lord wants to move in the bones of my life. He wants to do significant work with my life. My role is surrender to His Will and His Way.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
