Bold Honest Prayer

There have been times that I’m bold and confident. At other times, I may be a bit unsure and my confidence shaken. I would consider myself to be bold in my faith. I have walked with the Lord for many years, but I think it’s still important to daily listen to Him and talk with Him. Being with Him stokes the fire of boldness inside of me.

I came across a bold, honest prayer that King Hezekiah prayed before the Lord. The Assyrian king was threatening invasion of Jerusalem and exiling the people of Judah to other lands. Hezekiah was a prayer warrior of a king. He sent messages to Isaiah and he prayed to God directly.  Check this out….

14 After Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it, he went up to the Lord’s Temple and spread it out before the Lord. 15 And Hezekiah prayed this prayer before the Lord: “O Lord, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. 16 Bend down, O Lord, and listen! Open your eyes, O Lord, and see! Listen to Sennacherib’s words of defiance against the living God.

17 “It is true, Lord, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all these nations.18 And they have thrown the gods of these nations into the fire and burned them. But of course the Assyrians could destroy them! They were not gods at all—only idols of wood and stone shaped by human hands. 19 Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power; then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you alone, O Lord, are God.” (2 Kings 19:14-19 NLT)

I am learning to pray bold prayers.

I believe that God can do anything but fail.

I believe that God can supernaturally intervene in my world.

I believe that God hears the prayers of His people.

I don’t believe that God answers every prayer the way I want Him too. But I do believe He has my best interest at heart even if I don’t understand it now. I want to grow in my trust of Him. I want to keep praying bold prayers and lean into His Will and His Way for me.

I believe my bold prayers asked in faith can move the Fathers Heart. I believe that praying bold prayers radically changes my heart and gives me perspective on every situation I face.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
