An Honorable Blessing

I recently learned of an older pastor who visited our area. He was known for his ministries in Kentucky & Tennessee for many years. He served the Lord faithfully. He is nearing 90 years old and his family is taking him on visits to some of the places he served or to visit people with whom he served in ministry. His family is indeed honoring Him.

It is really cool to be honored or noticed for serving well. I can assure you though, that a much larger honor is waiting for him and others like him, who have served faithfully over the years.

King David is noticed for his service as a warrior and king. The descendants of Korah bless him with a Psalm. Check this out….

In your majesty, ride out to victory,
    defending truth, humility, and justice.
Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds!
Your arrows are sharp, piercing your enemies’ hearts.
The nations fall beneath your feet.

Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever.
You rule with a scepter of justice.
You love justice and hate evil.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you,
pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.(Psalm 45:4-7 NLT)

The person who lives and walks faithfully with the Lord for many years leaves behind a legacy of faith that will follow him or her into eternity. I used to want to be famous. I’m learning that it’s way more significant to make Him famous. He wired me that way. If I want to be known for anything or any success, it would be that I was a faithful follower of Jesus. He changed the direction of my life many years ago. As I changed careers, I still want to be faithful in following Him.

I would love for my children and their children to keep following the Lord all the days of their lives. I want the Lord to receive the credit for anything I’ve been able to do in this life. I want to continue to be a blessed to the Lord and to others on His behalf. He deserves all honor and glory that my life can give.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
