Along The Way
There are so many things that happen along the way of life. I’ve been on trips where fun things happened along the way. There are also things that are bad that happen along the way. There are things that happen along the way to work or when I’m headed home. If I’m not careful, I will miss the things that happen along the way. I came across the phrase this morning in a paragraph when Jesus was led away to be crucified. Check this out….
32 Along the way, they came across a man named Simon, who was from Cyrene, and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross. 33 And they went out to a place called Golgotha (which means “Place of the Skull”). 34 The soldiers gave Jesus wine mixed with bitter gall, but when he had tasted it, he refused to drink it. (Matthew 27:32-34 NLT)
This was a hard journey. The other accounts of this walk to Golgotha describes the exhaustion of Jesus after He had been beaten and tortured. I would like to hear the story of this guy Simon who was pressed into carrying the cross for Jesus. He wasn’t given a choice by the Roman soldiers. He obviously did well carrying the cross and gave Jesus some relief.
What can I do “along the way”?
I can notice others and their struggle.
I can offer to help others with something their struggling with.
I can also see the hand of the Lord along the way of my life today.
I am where I am because of His Hand upon me. I want to serve others as His Hands and His Feet as I go along the way today.
My schedule this weekend is packed with plans and activities. I need to be intentional and notice the many things along the way of my life that are not accidental or coincidental. God’s plans for me include “along the way”.
Pressing On!
