Afraid

Thoughtful little girlAs a kid I was afraid of the dark. As an adult, I’ve learned to over come that fear. I’m still a bit startled and afraid of snakes. I tend to kill them on site and then see what kind of snake it was. I’m sometimes afraid of letting my newest driver at 16 years of age drive by himself in rainy conditions. I guess when I think about it, I’m still afraid of stuff even though I’m pretty old. King David had fears too. He had a pretty healthy perspective. Check this out….

3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise
   –
in God I trust and am not afraid.

    What can mere mortals do to me?
10 In God, whose word I praise,

    in the Lord, whose word I praise –
11 in God I trust and am not afraid.

    What can man do to me?
12 I am under vows to you, my God;

    I will present my thank-offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered me from death

    and my feet from stumbling,

that I may walk before God

    in the light of life. (Psalm 56:3-4; 10-13 NIV)

I am still learning to trust the Lord with the things that I’m afraid of. I still have days when I simply worried about stuff that could harm my family or me. When I go to the Word of God and I’m reminded to surrender my fears, it makes it today easier than yesterday.   The Lord can handle my fears no matter how big or little they are.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
