Affirming and Asking

I love questions because I see them a learning moments or teachable moments. I hear Andy Andrews says the quality of your answers depends on the quality of the question. I disagree with people who say, “you should never question God”.  I believe that the Lord actually loves questions. I think the way you ask a question, reveals the posture of your heart. I’ve asked questions of others and laced the question with sarcasm or frustration.

Jeremiah is lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem and in the middle of his lament, He affirms Who God is and then he proceeds to ask a question. Check this out….

19 But Lord, you remain the same forever!
Your throne continues from generation to generation.
20 Why do you continue to forget us?
Why have you abandoned us for so long?
21 Restore us, O Lord, and bring us back to you again!
Give us back the joys we once had! (Lamentations 5:19-21 NLT)

The Lord doesn’t need me, but I need Him.

He loves it when I trust Him and lean into Him. He is not wowed by my words, but a humble heart moves Him. I believe that the Lord understands my struggle and suffering at a level I can’t quite comprehend. His Presence can change my perspective, if I will notice. He is present even when I can’t see Him. It is wise to affirm His Presence and His Power, even if I can’t physically see Him. He is Creator God – always Presence and always Powerful to save.

So don’t let your heart be troubled
Hold your head up high
Don’t fear no evil
Fix your eyes on this one truth
God is madly in love with you
So take courage, Hold on, Be strong
Remember where our help comes from.
