A Prayer For My Children

I am a blessed dad with five grown children – the oldest about to be 32 and the youngest is about to be 20. I now have 3 precious grand children in the mix as well. My new favorite title is “Pop”! I believe in the power of prayer. I talk to the Lord often about my children. I want them to know Him and to walk with Him. I want them to know of His amazing love and His reckless grace. God sent His One and Only Son to save me, my family and the whole world. His plan unfolded and went according to His plan. We now have direct access to our God through Jesus.

I pray for the Lord’s protection and blessing upon my children and their children. I want the Lord’s Spirit to be all over them. Check this out….

1 “But now, listen to me, Jacob my servant,
    Israel my chosen one.
The Lord who made you and helps you says:
Do not be afraid, O Jacob, my servant,
O dear Israel, my chosen one.
For I will pour out water to quench your thirst
and to irrigate your parched fields.
And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants,
and my blessing on your children.
They will thrive like watered grass,
    like willows on a riverbank.
Some will proudly claim, ‘I belong to the Lord.’
Others will say, ‘I am a descendant of Jacob.’
Some will write the Lord’s name on their hands
and will take the name of Israel as their own.” (Isaiah 44:1-5 NLT)

I want my middle name to be Jesus.

I want His Compassion.

I want His Love.

I want His Mercy.

I want His Grace.

I want His Spirit all over and inside me.

I want Him to move and work in me so that others see Jesus.

I want it to be clear that I belong to Him.

If only God would give me more _________, my life would be better. If there is anything other than Jesus in that blank, we have an idol inside heart. If I have an idol in my heart, I’m really no better off than the people who carved an idol out of wood and then bowed down to it.

The Presence of God in me via Jesus, changes my perspective and my outlook on everything. He is all I need – period. I desperately want my children and their children to know Him and follow Him.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
