A New Heart

I remember when I was a younger kid hearing about the artificial heart and the first guy to receive a permanent artificial heart. Mr. Clark lived 112 days with the artificial heart. He didn’t have a lot to lose as I understand it. His old heart was “out of gas”. He would die soon. Our heart is the most significant muscle in our entire body.

The Word of God refers to the heart often as the center of person’s being. The heart that scripture speaks of is more like our soul. I will often pray that the Lord shape my “heart” to be more like His “heart”. It is a figure of speech of sorts.

I’m reading in 1 Samuel about Israel’s first King. He was Saul, son of Kish from the tribe of Benjamin.  It’s cool how the Lord orchestrated all of this. He sent Samuel to meet up with Saul and then Samuel gives Saul the schedule as to how things will go with the Lord changing him. Check this out…

As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel’s signs were fulfilled that day. 10 When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, they saw a group of prophets coming toward them. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy. 11 When those who knew Saul heard about it, they exclaimed, “What? Is even Saul a prophet? How did the son of Kish become a prophet?” (1 Samuel 10:9-11 NLT)

I love that Saul received a “new heart”, but I love the fact that the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him. The Spirit of God is the supernatural Presence of God. I have felt the powerful presence of God upon me. I seek that quite often. I want my “flesh” to be put in its place and I want the powerful Presence of God to be seen in me. When I have the Spirit of God, I can see with His eyes. When I have the Spirit of God, I can hear with His ears. When I have the Spirit of God I can speak with His mouth. (I’m not sure if God has eyes, ears or mouth, but I want my behavior to reflect His character for sure.)

I want to begin today with a new heart that is crafted by the Lord. I want to have the Spirit of God upon my life. I pray for God’s favor upon me, my family and my business. I’m praying that in the midst of this crazy COVID-19 crisis that more than ever before, others will seek a new heart from the Lord.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
