A House For The Lord

Keys to new homeI became a REALTOR back in 2003 and since that time I’ve sold some really nice houses to some wonderful people. In fact I really enjoy helping connect people with just the right house for them. I must say that I’ve sold some houses that were absolutely stunning. Some were stunning because they were beautiful, spacious and extremely well build. Others were stunning because were horribly abused and beat up. Pretty much everyone needs a place to live and escape from the elements of the weather. I personally need a place to relax and rest. I am a pretty simple man and I love my simple little house. Isaiah opens up his last chapter asking about a house for the Lord. Check this out….

1 This is what the Lord says:
‘Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool.
Where is the house you will build for me?
    Where will my resting-place be?
2 Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?’
declares the Lord.
‘These are the ones I look on with favor:
those who are humble and contrite in spirit,
and who tremble at my word. (Isaiah 66:1-2 NIV)

I want my simple house to be welcome place for the Lord to dwell. I believe that the Lord made everything I see, touch, smell and know. Every resource on this earth can be traced back to The Creator.

Paul gives another picture of the house where God dwells when writing to the church in Corinth. Check this out…

16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives among you? (1 Corinthians 3:16 NIV)

Again Paul says…

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV)

I ask the Lord often to bless the house where I live. I also ask the Lord to bless the “house” (aka office) where I work. I also want the Lord to be with me wherever I am. I remember learning at an early age that a house becomes a home because of the love and warmth among family who live there. Home is a place where people feel safe; they flourish and grow. I want to make my heart a home for the Lord to dwell. I want my home to be a place where He is ALWAYS welcome!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
