A Good Life
I listen to a podcast a couple of times a week called “It’s A Good Life” led by Brian Buffini, a businessman from San Diego who leads the largest business coaching company in the USA for sure and probably the world. At the end of each podcast episode, he asked his guests: “What does the good life look like for you?” I think it’s a good question to reflect on for everyone. If I don’t evaluate where I am and where I’m going, then I guess I’m just along for the ride.
Paul challenges the church at Rome about living a life of goodness and peace. Those two words make me think about what does a “good life look like for me”. Check this out…
17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. 19 So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up. (Romans 14:17-19 NLT)
Peace is part of the good life. I think being a peace with others is important. I also think “financial peace” is a significant part of the good life. I also believe if I have peace and joy then goodness will be produced in my life. I see joy as an attitude that is cultivated and chosen each day and in every circumstance. There are lots of thieves of joy in our world, but I’ve learned to recognize them before they get too close. Every now and then, the thieves of joy sneak in and temporarily take my joy.
So, if I were asked “what does the good life look like for you?”, I would answer a life filled with joy, peace, and goodness. The joy and peace I have comes from my walk with the Lord. His Presence in me gives me perspective, clarity, and awareness. A good life is always available through Christ. He is the One Who creates my good life. He is the One Who gives me joy and peace!
Pressing On!
