Ponder
This is not a word that I use a lot, but I actually do ponder pretty often. I think I’ve probably called it reflecting. Ponder means to deeply think and consider something carefully. I do ponder my faith quite often. I ponder relationships. I ponder my work. I ponder vacation. I ponder a lot more than I realize. The Psalmist advises “pondering” regarding the Lord. Check this out….
1 Praise the Lord!
I will thank the Lord with all my heart
as I meet with his godly people.
2 How amazing are the deeds of the Lord!
All who delight in him should ponder them.
3 Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.
His righteousness never fails.
4 He causes us to remember his wonderful works.
How gracious and merciful is our Lord!(Psalm 111:1-4 NLT)
I read this passage yesterday and decided to literally ponder it all day. I wanted it to “marinate in my soul”. I literally woke up this morning pondering about the Lord. It’s the Lord’s day and I’m excited to gather with fellow believers and ponder what God has done and is doing. The title of our current series at church is reflect – a synonym of ponder. The verse in this passage that follows the ponder challenge is a strong mission statement of The Lord. “Everything He does reveals His glory and majesty.” When I see the word “everything”, I realize that there are no exceptions, it is absolute. I want to make sure I take note of EVERYTHING He does as it reveals His glory and majesty.
I’m actually committed to pondering the amazing actions of the Lord every day. He doesn’t miss anything that happens in my life. I want to trust Him completely as He seeks to reveal His glory and majesty through my journey.
Pressing On!
