A Short Note
I recently received a short note of thanks from a friend and it was a blessing. Sometimes a simple, short note packs a powerful message. I enjoy writing short notes to people who influence me and people that I have the privilege to know and work with. This little book of 3 John appears to me to be a short note instead of a whole letter. The greeting of this short note blessed me and his message packed a little punch as well. Check this out…
3 Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love. I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. (3 John 1:3, 5-6 NIV)
What a cool greeting about grace, mercy and peace. Those are three great ingredients to implement into my character. These ingredients are made possible because of truth and love. John then goes right into a simple yet powerful point of this note – God commands us to walk in obedience to His command that we walk in love! How simple, yet powerful. If I take a moment to realize just how deeply loved I am by God – it makes it a lot easier to follow His lead and love others. When I understand just how much I need grace – I can then become a dispenser of Grace. I can’t imagine my life without the grace, mercy and love of God.
Pressing On! Dwayne
