Yet

Are we there yet?

He isn’t finished with me yet.

That was done well, yet, there is room for improvement.

I haven’t done that yet.

This little three letter word can function as an adverb or a conjunction word. It’s small, but powerful. It implies something in the future that hasn’t happened at this time but could possibly happen. It has an element of hope to it.

The Lord instructed Jeremiah to dictate all his promises and prophesies to a young man named Baruch who would record them on a scroll to share with the spiritual leaders from all over Jerusalem. It sounds like one more shot for the people to repent.  There was a ray of hope in the Lord’s instructions as Jeremiah sends off this young man. Check this out….

Perhaps even yet they will turn from their evil ways and ask the Lord’s forgiveness before it is too late. For the Lord has threatened them with his terrible anger.” (Jeremiah 3:7 NLT)

I’m very thankful that the Lord isn’t finished with me yet. I’m thankful that even as I stumble badly and embarrass Him and myself – His Grace is enough, and His forgiveness is complete.

11 “I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is!”  -Jesus (Matthew 11:11 NLT)

“He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” –Jesus (Matthew 26:39 NLT)

I like this little word “yet” a lot because it brings with it a possible pivot. I can change; my situation can change; and people can change. The word “yet” creates some variance of possibility that may or may not have existed before now.

I don’t always understand the Lord’s plan, YET I will trust in Him.

I don’t always understand His silence, YET I will listen for Him.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
