Witness
I have witnessed accidents before. I have witnessed bad behavior before. I have witnessed disrespect toward others. I have witnessed gifts of love. I have witnessed genuine love for others. There have been things I’ve seen with my own eyes that I have a hard time describing and explaining.
I sometimes wonder what it would be like to be a “material witness” in a crime or court proceeding. I think there would be some level of pressure. If my testimony was needed to convict a bad actor, it might not be so hard.
Jesus bore witness to the Father Who sent Him. He explained to His disciples that while John bore witness to Him, the activities He was sent here to do also bear witness. Check this out….
34 Of course, I have no need of human witnesses, but I say these things so you might be saved. 35 John was like a burning and shining lamp, and you were excited for a while about his message.36 But I have a greater witness than John—my teachings and my miracles. The Father gave me these works to accomplish, and they prove that he sent me. (John 5:34-36 NLT)
My actions speak louder than my words.
My activities bear witness to what is going on in my heart.
I want the decisions I make today to speak out about my faith in God. I don’t to simply say that I love the Lord, I want my choices and actions to reflect what I say I believe.
I think it takes daily surrender of my heart in order for me to be a good witness on the Lord’s behalf. He can use my surrendered heart in ways I never even dreamed of.
Pressing On!
