What Should We Do?

This is a question that since early March of this year, a lot of people have been asking. When faced with circumstances that we’ve not seen before we wonder what to do next. I’ve learned in my journey with the Lord that He is never surprised by anything. He is not surprised by the pandemic facing our world. He is not surprised by cancer. He is not surprised by an accident. I am the one surprised when something happens that I didn’t see coming. He sees everything that is coming.

The king of Israel, the king of Judah and the king of Edom teamed up to go attached the king of Moab and his army. They traveled deep into the wilderness and couldn’t find water for the men and animals. Joram, the king of Israel starts freaking out. He doesn’t really have a relationship with God. Check this out….

10 “What should we do?” the king of Israel cried out. “The Lord has brought the three of us here to let the king of Moab defeat us.”

11 But King Jehoshaphat of Judah asked, “Is there no prophet of the Lord with us? If there is, we can ask the Lord what to do through him.”

One of King Joram’s officers replied, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to be Elijah’s personal assistant.”

12 Jehoshaphat said, “Yes, the Lord speaks through him.” So the king of Israel, King Jehoshaphat of Judah, and the king of Edom went to consult with Elisha.

13 “Why are you coming to me?” Elisha asked the king of Israel. “Go to the pagan prophets of your father and mother!”

But King Joram of Israel said, “No! For it was the Lord who called us three kings here—only to be defeated by the king of Moab!” (2 Kings 3:10-13 NLT)

When I’m faced with a new situation and I don’t know what to do – it’s a valid question. I should ask the question to the Lord first.  I can ask anyone, and I’ll usually get some advice. I want my counsel and advice to come from the Lord.  I love Jehoshaphat first thought about seeking out a prophet of the Lord.

I am not afraid to ask God questions. I believe He created the questions in me. I believe He wired me to think how I think. I want to be wise in my response to unknown situations or troubling situations.  I want to continue to cultivate my pursuit of God’s heart so it’s very natural for me to ask Him questions and seek His Will and His Way. I believe He will keep me steady and calm is the craziest of times and situations. He is my Anchor. He is the Rock of Ages. He is the Source of my strength and resolve. He is the Source of ANY Wisdom that I might possess.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
