Walk On
I’m grateful for the ability to walk from one place to another. I confess that I could stand to do more walking for its good exercise. If I walk at a brisk pace, my heart gets exercise too. Walking with the Lord is also a good exercise. While I’m walking with the Lord, my heart/soul gets healthier as well.
The people of Israel are have been in the wilderness for 40 years and are about to enter the land that God promised to give to them. Moses reminds them of the journey and the Presence and Provision of God while on the journey. Check this out…
2 Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. 3 Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell. 5 Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
6 “So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him. (Deuteronomy 8:2-6 NLT)
I was amazing about the amount of walking and traveling they did, and their clothes didn’t wear out. Their shoes held up. It was a hard season, but the Lord did some amazing things to shape them and mold them during that hard season. They learned to depend upon the Lord during that wilderness season. God does some of His best work in wilderness seasons. He teaches us to lean into Him because we don’t know what is next. He provides for our needs. His Presence provides peace and comfort. My role in the wilderness season, or any other season is to walk on.
I want to walk daily with the Lord so that He directs my steps and provides the directional guidance that I need. He walks with me. He talks with me. He encourages me. He motivates me. He inspires me. All I do is continue to walk with Him and desiring to know Him more today that I did yesterday. So today, I will continue to walk on with Him.
Pressing On!
