Unprecedented
There are events that happen that have never happened before. They can’t quite be compared to any other event. The prophet Joel came along and endured such an event. Check this out….
1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel son of Pethuel.
2 Hear this, you elders;
listen, all who live in the land.
Has anything like this ever happened in your days
or in the days of your ancestors?
3 Tell it to your children,
and let your children tell it to their children,
and their children to the next generation.
4 What the locust swarm has left
the great locusts have eaten;
what the great locusts have left
the young locusts have eaten;
what the young locusts have left
other locusts[a] have eaten. (Joel 1:1-4 NIV)
When something unprecedented occurs, I always try to connect it to something that would closely compare. If there is no such event, then I’m left to try to learn from the experience and grow through it. I don’t think I will ever forget the terrorist attack on our country that took place on September 11, 2001. I still get sick to my stomach thinking about it. I remember how the USA responded to an unprecedented attack on our country from the inside. I was amazed at how the instincts of people close to these attacks were to simply help. I believe as I follow the Lord that He will give me wisdom and discernment in how to respond to something unprecedented that happens to me. I often refer to this as “unchartered waters” meaning that I’ve not been here before. I want to trust the Lord at all times and in every situation that comes my way or happens in my world.
Pressing On!
