Trust & Obey
I remember an old hymn that I used to sing growing up called: “Trust & Obey”. The chorus says: “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” I’ve been learning over the years that the Lord is blessed by my obedience then all the songs I can sing and all the prayers I can pray. My trust and obedience to Lord screams out surrender to Him more than anything else. I can say I believe in Him until I’m blue in the face, but my obedience speaks louder than any words that I could say.
The people are getting really close, organized and ready to enter the land God promised. Part of God’s final instructions centered on obey. Check this out….
9 Then Moses and the Levitical priests addressed all Israel as follows: “O Israel, be quiet and listen! Today you have become the people of the Lord your God. 10 So you must obey the Lord your God by keeping all these commands and decrees that I am giving you today.” (Deuteronomy 27:9-10 NLT)
My obedience reveals my trust.
My obedience brings peace.
My obedience settles my heart.
My obedience “bolds, italicizes, and underlines” my words.
My obedience as a Christ follower should not be considered optional.
My obedience clarifies my purpose.
My obedience speaks of my humility.
My obedience speaks to my salvation.
My obedience speaks to my character.
As I walk with the Lord in obedience, I’m becoming what in God’s eyes (through His Son Jesus) who I already am.
I believe my worship comes from my obedience and trust.
Pressing On!
