Treasure

I love finding money in a coat pocket that I had forgotten about. I remember looking for treasure as a kid. Nicolas Cage starred in “National Treasure”, a movie released in 2004. I’ve watched it a few times because I love some of the history and theory behind the movie. There are treasure hunters all over the world. Some go to Pawn Shops and others go to storage building auctions.  I often view treasure as something I do not yet have. Treasure is defined as: “any person or thing highly treasured”. It often refers to wealth, precious metals or jewels. I have lots of treasures.

If you’ve ever been to a third world, you understand that wealth is very relative. I know people who have more material things than I have. I know lot of people who have more money than I have. I feel blessed with an amazing family, lots of friends, money for food and emergency funds. Treasure is much more than things or even people – it’s wisdom too. Check this out….

1My child, listen to what I say,
    and treasure my commands.
Tune your ears to wisdom,
    and concentrate on understanding.
Cry out for insight,
    and ask for understanding.
Search for them as you would for silver;
    seek them like hidden treasures.
Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God.
For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him. (Proverbs 2:1-8 NLT)

The Lord is the Source of Treasure. He has insight beyond measure. He has an unlimited wisdom and resources. He speaks wisdom into my soul constantly. I have to tune in carefully to hear from Him. I can also ask Him for treasure.

I love it when He prompts me and stirs something inside my heart. He reminds me to love. He reminds me to give. He reminds me to serve. He reminds of His Presence in me. I need the treasure of His Wisdom constantly. I’m learning to ask often for His Wisdom and insight. I want to be a person who walks with integrity, so that He is a Shield about me. I have the upmost respect for the Lord and His directions and His insight into my journey. I want to be like Solomon and seek His favor and His heart in order to honor Him with my life.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
