Thirsty
If I’m out and about and I get thirsty, I will usually try to take care of that need. My body needs to continually be hydrated. It’s even more presence in the heat and the sun. I really like a tall glass of water. I do like Diet Coke or Sprite Zero, but nothing quenches my thirst like water.
I also have a spiritual thirst that I seek to quench each day. I really want to know more of God, my Creator and His plans for me. I want to drink from the water of His Word. He alone can quench my spiritual thirst. Check this out….
1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? 5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God. 7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. (Psalm 42:1-2,5,7 NIV)
We used to sing a version of this song in worship years ago and I loved the picture of the waves and breakers sweeping over me. The amazing and awesome power of God is sweeping over me and cleaning me up. My soul gets disturbed when I stumble and sin. He forgives. He restores. He saves. He longs for my worship and praise from an honest and sincere place. He doesn’t want a show of my worship – He wants my heart.
When I’m thirsty, He quenches my thirst with His Presence and His Spirit restoring my soul.
