The Writing Is On The Wall

Jesus writing with his fingerI’ve heard this saying since I was a kid. I think it means that the outcome is obvious to whoever is speaking it. I don’t always see the writing on the wall with stuff that I’m involved in. There are times when I see the obvious outcome (aka “the writing on the wall”) when it involves someone else.

Nebuchadnezzar was king over Babylon and Daniel served under him. After he is removed, his son becomes king. He did not have respect at all for The Lord God. Check this out…

22 ‘But you, Belshazzar, his son, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this. 23 Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. 24 Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.

25 ‘This is the inscription that was written:

mene, mene, tekel, parsin

26 ‘Here is what these words mean:

Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.

27 Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

28 Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.’ (Daniel 5:22-28 NIV)

I want to be the one who knows Whose hand is doing the writing on the wall. I want to walk with the Lord in such a way that He leads my every step. I want Him to guide my every decision. I don’t ever want to be disrespectful or arrogant before Him. I want to live humbly before Him so that my life brings honor to Him. I want to be found in Christ when my days come to an end and my life is weighed before the Lord. I want to be found in Christ when my days come to end – period. I want my family to be united in their pursuit of the Lords heart.

Pressing On!
