The Well

Fairy-tale medieval water wellI love old water well houses. I think the concept of going to the well to get water is pretty nostalgic now. In our modern world, we simply hooked our house up to a water line that comes right into the house. I remember in years gone by helping people draw water from the well for drinking. This past summer I was able to see a well being dug by hand in Nicaragua. It was very hard work but this family would soon have their very own water supply. I saw a working well that had lots of water for many families in it. The prophet Isaiah speaks of a similar sort of well. Check this out….

1 In that day you will say:
‘I will praise you, Lord.
    Although you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away
    and you have comforted me.
2 Surely God is my salvation;
    I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense;
    he has become my salvation.’
3 With joy you will draw water
    from the wells of salvation. (Isaiah 12:1-3 NIV)

I love the concept of going to the well of salvation. It’s like this never-ending supply of forgiveness and grace. The Lord never has a drought in His well of grace. He never runs out of love in His well. He never runs out of mercy in His well. I need to go to His well of salvation every single day of my life. I need His water of salvation. Today I will drink again from His well of salvation!

Pressing On!
