The List
I remember as a youngster trying out for the basketball team in elementary school. I tried to make up for my lack of skill by straight up hustle. I remember the tryouts and my abilities being judged by the coach. I clearly remember going to the list that was posted to see if my name was on the list. Since that time, I’ve been on lots of lists. Some lists are good to be on and some are not so good. There is a book with a list mentioned in the book of Daniel that I for sure want to be on. Check this out….
‘At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people – everyone whose name is found written in the book – will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. (Daniel 12:1-3 NIV)
I believe that this list in this book is the only list that really matters. If my name is not on this list, then my eternity is looking really rough. I care about this list and I believe if I continue to pursue God and honor Him – my name is solidly on that list. I also know that I really don’t deserve to be on there. I know all the things I’ve thought; I’ve said; or I’ve done that hurt the Lord’s heart. Because of GRACE, I’m still on the list. As I read and study the Word, I realize that no one really deserves to be on the list, because there is no one person whose perfect. The pursuit of the Lords heart is the journey NOT the destination. I believe the list to be made up of people in pursuit of God’s heart.
Pressing On!
