The Greatest

I work hard to be my best on most days. I don’t want to disappoint people I serve and work with. There are days that I feel totally spent. There are days that I’m invigorated. There is a tension in me that drives me to serve well and to live well to honor the King Whose name I wear.

I want to be known as a humble servant of God. I want to make Him famous and not be famous myself. I want Him to be clearly seen in how I live and work.

As a kid, I remember Muhammed Ali declaring to the world that “he is the greatest!” Jesus declares the “greatest” ranking in His Kingdom is quite a bit different than in our culture. Check this out…

1About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”

Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

“And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. (Matthew 18:1-6 NLT)

Children are so present.

Children are often so honest.

Children are “all in”.

Children are so innocent.

One of my favorite scenes in The Chosen is Jesus’ interaction with the children. I want to live my life as a child of God. I want to have the characteristics of a child while honoring my Heavenly Father. I want to be present, honest, “all in” and innocent.  The Greatest in God’s economy are the humble, gentle, seekers of God. I want to be repentant of my sin. I want to grow to become more like Jesus in my every day, walking around life.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
