The Big Day
There are some days that I look forward to and anticipate with great excitement. There are other days when I really dreading the days that I know are coming. I can’t always control either scenario. As I wake up each morning and begin my day, I must trust the Lord with the things I can’t control and simply manage the areas that are under my control. I can choose to have a good attitude and cheerful spirit. I can’t control accidents, medical prognosis or the weather.
The people of Israel had had several chances to turn back to the Lord. They had ignored all the warning signs. The severity of the punishment was about to begin and at this point they could do nothing. The big day had arrived. Check this out…
10 ‘“See, the day!
See, it comes!
Doom has burst forth,
the rod has budded,
arrogance has blossomed!
11 Violence has arisen,
a rod to punish the wicked.
None of the people will be left,
none of that crowd –
none of their wealth,
nothing of value.
12 The time has come!
The day has arrived!
Let not the buyer rejoice
nor the seller grieve,
for my wrath is on the whole crowd.
13 The seller will not recover
the property that was sold –
as long as both buyer and seller live.
For the vision concerning the whole crowd
will not be reversed.
Because of their sins, not one of them
will preserve their life.
14 ‘“They have blown the trumpet,
they have made all things ready,
but no one will go into battle,
for my wrath is on the whole crowd. (Ezekiel 7:10-14 NIV)
I can’t wrap my head around a catastrophe of this magnitude. I can’t begin to know what this would fee like. I have decided to follow the Lord with my life. I want to trust Him in all circumstances. I want to trust Him with even the circumstances that I think I can control. When the big day comes for me, I will not be alone. I have Him with me to walk me through it. I can’t imagine doing life without Him. He is my Rock and my Redeemer. He is my Protector and my Provider. I’m holding on to Him so that I can face any day, big or small, that comes my way.
Pressing On!
