Take Good Notes
I remember in High School learning to take notes. I wasn’t sure what to write down. I had to learn to write down certain parts of what the teacher was saying so that I could remember most all of what was said. I’ve since become more efficient at taking notes and thanks to my electronic devices I always have note taking covered. I use a program called “Evernote” and it is fantastic. You can use it for free and you can investigate or download it here.
Ezekiel did not have the advantage of Evernote as he is tasked with the job of writing down all the measurements of a temple. Check this out….
1 In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the fall of the city – on that very day the hand of the Lord was on me and he took me there. 2 In visions of God he took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose south side were some buildings that looked like a city. 3 He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze; he was standing in the gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand. 4 The man said to me, ‘Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.’ (Ezekiel 40:1-4 NIV)
I think it’s important to write things down. I remember and recall things that I’ve written down way more than if I just try to remember them. One of the reasons I started this blog was to remember my journey through the Word of God and how He speaks to me through my time with Him in the Word. When I write something down, I’m using parts of my body that would not be engaged otherwise. This use of my hands in the writing increases the odds of me remembering big time. I do my best to write everything important down. If it’s written down, I can return to it.
One more reason to write things down; my thoughts or ideas become more “concrete” and tangible. If I write it down my thoughts are no longer simple thoughts they become ideas that can become goals. I’m writing today what I feel like the Lord spoke to me as I read this chapter. I want Him to speak into me every day the truths from His Word.
Pressing On!
