Strategy
There are all sorts of plans being made today. Some are mundane and routine, while others are well thought out and planned for a long period of time. There are times when planning and preparation develop into a well-orchestrated strategy. There are other times when the best laid plans fall on their face. I’ve seen many businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic have to pivot to keep their business open.
King David was in his last days and he was very old. He was pretty much in the bed the whole time. One of his sons, decided to announce himself as king. David had planned that his son Solomon would become the next king. His son Adonijah had started the party and the sacrifices that were part of the anointing. But David has a strategy that trumps him. Check this out….
32 Then King David ordered, “Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” When they came into the king’s presence, 33 the king said to them, “Take Solomon and my officials down to Gihon Spring. Solomon is to ride on my own mule. 34 There Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him king over Israel. Blow the ram’s horn and shout, ‘Long live King Solomon!’ 35 Then escort him back here, and he will sit on my throne. He will succeed me as king, for I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah.”
36 “Amen!” Benaiah son of Jehoiada replied. “May the Lord, the God of my lord the king, decree that it happen. 37 And may the Lord be with Solomon as he has been with you, my lord the king, and may he make Solomon’s reign even greater than yours!” (1 Kings 1:32-37 NLT)
It’s important to think strategic. I think it’s wise to make plans and develop strategy for growth. There are times when the best laid plans need to pivot or adjust in order to be successful. This sort of thinking can also be called, “Plan B”. There are several variables beyond my ability to control, so my strategy must make allowances for that.
I think it’s wise to think through several different scenarios and plans to pivot as necessary. This is an acceptable strategy. There are times when my contingency plans get scrapped completely and a whole new strategy is needed. The Lord can lead me through that as well. My strategy and best laid plans are still dependent upon the Lord’s direction and blessing. I would rather have to put all my strategies aside and totally go with His plans and His strategy. He is still and will ALWAYS be in control of my best strategy and well-thought-out plans.
Pressing On!
