Still Going
I love the commercial from years ago of the Energizer Bunny who advertises that their batteries last longer. The older I get, the more I reflect on things from the past as the memories come back very clear every now and then. Some things from my past have been forgotten, but some of the big pivot points are still very clear to me. I remember the cold Sunday morning when I surrendered my life to God. We drove 20 miles to Columbia Christian Church where I was baptized in a heated baptistery. It was a bit cold to be immersed in Casey Creek. I look back on my journey with the Lord and reflect often. He was always there even when I didn’t “feel” Him. He has walked with me through some pretty scary stuff. I’ve learned that I can trust Him and depend on His Presence to calm my heart and give me peace as I fade struggle and suffering. I still get anxious, but then I find my “faith legs” and I stand upon His Promises.
Isaiah told of Jesus coming to earth and the impact He would have. I have the priviledge of reading about the plan of God to send Jesus and reading as the plan unfolded when He came. Now I’m living for Him each day and the plan for me is still unfolding. Isaiah was telling this hundreds of years prior to it happening. Check this out….
1Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—
yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.
2 And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
3 He will delight in obeying the Lord.
He will not judge by appearance
nor make a decision based on hearsay.
4 He will give justice to the poor
and make fair decisions for the exploited.
The earth will shake at the force of his word,
and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked.
5 He will wear righteousness like a belt
and truth like an undergarment.
10 In that day the heir to David’s throne
will be a banner of salvation to all the world.
The nations will rally to him,
and the land where he lives will be a glorious place. (Isaiah 11:1-5,10 NLT)
He came and changed the world forever.
He fulfilled God’s plan for our world.
He brought salvation for everyone who believes in Him.
He introduced grace and mercy to the world.
He introduced the Holy Spirit (Presence) of God to those who surrender to God.
He is still bringing wisdom and understanding to the world.
He is still a Champion of Truth.
He is still a banner of salvation to the world.
Pressing On!
