Stand Firm
Recently we had so much rain that the ground has become spongy and soft. It’s really hard to stand firm on spongy and soft ground. In a few days it will dry out some and the ground will become firm again. I was reminded again this morning of the importance of a good foundation. Paul is reminding the people at the church in Thessalonica to stand firm. Check this out…
15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. 16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. (2 Thessalonians 2:15-17 NIV)
The foundation that helps us stand firm is the teaching from the Word of God. The Truth of God’s Word is the foundation of all that we hold on to. I base my life on the Word of God. I try to live my life based on the Word of God. His Word encourages my heart. His Word strengthens my resolve to honor Him with my words and my actions. He loves me like no one else and He promises me eternal life that no one else can. He holds my future and He walks with me in my present. I’m standing firm in my faith in the Lord. I want to be a rock that can’t be moved.
Pressing On! Dwayne
