Special Moments
I know exactly where I was when some momentous things happened in our world. For example, I remember where I was when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded in the sky over Florida. I remember vividly the morning of September 11, 2001. Those moments didn’t define me, but those moments had a profound impact on the citizens and on our country for years to come. There are times when special moments really change the course of our future. I remember the afternoon when I accepted Christ as my Savior. I remember when my children were born. I remember adoption day for my youngest son. These are just some of the special moments that profoundly impacted me personally.
The crucifixion of Jesus had some special moments for the people who were followers of Jesus. I’m wondering what Simon from Cyrene was like after carrying the cross for Jesus. I’m sure Jesus interacted with Simon – a special moment. The moment Jesus breathed His last was noted by Matthew specifically. Check this out….
50 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, 52 and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. 53 They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people. (Matthew 27:50-53)
I can only imagine what it would have been like to be there.
What about the people who had Jesus crucified? What were they thinking now?
This moment in history stands alone as the single biggest event with eternal repercussions. This is the moment when eternal life became possible for everyone!
I want to notice big moments going forward.
I want to notice the little moments that have a big impact.
I want the Lord to reveal Himself to me in special moments with family and friends. I want to have the ability to carefully notice the many moments He places along my journey.
Pressing On!
