Speak Up & Speak Out
There is a time to be quiet and there is a time to speak up and out. Over the years I have more trouble speaking too much instead of not speaking enough. Words can bring healing to hurtful situations. Words can also destroy people’s lives. I’m learning, the older I get, how valuable well thought out words are.
I believe that the Lord gives me words to say and thoughts to think. I would be wise to listen and learn directly from my Creator. He speaks to Ezekiel as He calls him to be a prophet. He makes it clear that the words Ezekiel is to speak comes from the Lord. Check this out…
1 He said to me, ‘Son of man, [a] stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.’ 2 As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.
3 He said: ‘Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have been in revolt against me to this very day. 4 The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says.” 5 And whether they listen or fail to listen – for they are a rebellious people – they will know that a prophet has been among them. 6 And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people. 7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious. (Ezekiel 2:1-7 NIV)
I believe that I’m capable of speaking what the Lord tells me to speak.
I’m also capable of being rebellious and being the one who needs to be spoken to.
This is not rocket science, it’s “Walking With the Lord 101”. He speaks into my life and tells me what to say in order to speak into the life of someone else. I have to be very careful that I don’t speak “my words” and call them “His Words”. When the Lord speaks to me, His words always lines up with The Word. There should be no confusion or misinterpretation.
I really want to be obedient to the Lord’s call upon my life.
I want to listen carefully as He speaks to me.
I want to be obedient to everything He calls me to be and say.
I want to speak up and speak out WHEN He calls me to do so.
Pressing On!
