Speak

I can remember the fear I felt the first time I gave a speech in High School. I can’t remember what the speech was about, but I know it was short. I was a nervous wreck. Now I’m not afraid to speak in front of hundreds or even thousands. I have found a comfort level knowing who I am, Whose I am and most of my convictions are set in concrete. There are times when I at a loss for words.  It’s those times that remind me that the Holy Spirit speaks through me and through my preparation.

Jesus was warning His disciples that they would be persecuted because of Him and they would be put on trial for their faith. He was giving them signs of the end and also trying to give them a heads up about things that they would face. Check this out…

 I recently was asked to officiate a memorial service for Zack Musgrove, a 25 year old kid who overdosed on drugs and took his own life. It was surreal in so many ways. I have a kid the same age. I’ve known this kid since he was very young. I remember as I was preparing for the service that I needed the Lord to direct my thoughts and my words. The family requested that I speak about Zack’s drug addiction hoping to help others who were fighting the same disease. I remember saying things that I had not prepared to say as the Holy Spirit worked through my preparation as well as gave me words and phrases to say that the Lord wanted said. I am ready to speak at a moments notice because the Lord wants to speak through my words and my life to communicate truth about Him.  The Holy Spirit words are powerful and cut right into the spot where they are most needed. I will continue to listen to Him and say what He wants me to say.
