Sit Down
I actually don’t mind sitting down some. I do like this new trend toward “stand-up desks”, but I also like my comfortable chair. I don’t like to be told to sit down, but it’s a bit more restful to sit. When I sit down, I’m a bit more relaxed and rested. When I sit down I’m a bit more vulnerable. When I sit down, I’m a bit more approachable. When I sit down, I’m more “with another person” than “over” them.
David pens a Psalm where the Lord instructs him to sit down. When the Lord tells me to sit down, there is usually some instruction and/or encouragement to follow. Check this out….
1 The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.” (Psalm 110:1 NLT)
I want the Lord to be the Leader of every area of my life. I don’t want to presume that I’m in charge and He’s just following my lead. I want to trust Him with the Leadership role. If He tells me to sit, I sit. If He tells me to lead, I lead. If He tells me to speak, I speak. I will follow Him and listen to His instructions/directions for my life. It’s following and leading from a place of humility.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. (James 4:10 NLT)
I’m still learning to let God of the reins of my life and trust the Lord to lead me. I can navigate most every decision without His help, but I’ve learned that it’s way more productive and wise to seek His leadership in every facet of my life. I’m also learning that when I sit down, I’m more appreciative and grateful to Him for everything, I don’t get so full of myself. I want to sit down at His feet more often!
Pressing On!
