Silent Things Speak
One of my favorite vacations is to go camping by the lake. I must admit that I’m not really “roughing it” though. I have a camper with a nice bed, stove, refrigerator, satellite TV, but oh the view. I love backing the camper up to the lake and just taking it in. There is such beauty in the outdoors. The crackle of the campfire helps as well as the singing birds.
Sometimes my life gets so noisy and crazy in my everyday life that I miss seeing the beauty of God all around me. His beauty is in the sunrise or the rain. His beauty is in the flat land or rolling hills. I came across this passage that King David penned that says it well. Check this out…
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. 4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. (Psalm 19:1-4a NIV)The beauty of God can be found everywhere in His creation. It can be found in the birth of a baby. It can be found in the swooping beauty of a bird flying just over the still water of the lake. The intricate detail in the beauty of creation SCREAMS out that there was a Designer and a Planner – a CREATOR!
I’m so thankful that this amazing Creator wants to speak to me and reveal Himself to me as I live, work and rest among His Creative works. He is no so aloof that He doesn’t hear me when I call. I love the fact that I’m part of His creative works and my actions speak what I believe about my Creator. I really want to learn to keep proper perspective each day.
Pressing On! Dwayne
