Secrets

I remember learning about secrets as a little boy. My sisters or brothers would tell me things and then tell me that they were secret and I couldn’t tell anyone. I fell pretty sure that I wasn’t that good at keeping secrets then. I’ve since learned the value of keeping secrets – not just my own, but secrets that others tell me

Daniel was about to be killed because the king of Babylon had a dream and asked his fortune tellers, magicians and fortune tellers to explain the dream AND tell him what he dreamed in the first place.  The king was about to kill ALL the wise men in Babylon, including Daniel and his three close friends (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego).  He volunteered to tell the king the dream and explain what it meant BEFORE he knew. He told his three friends (S, M, A) to pray to the God of heaven to reveal this secret dream and it’s meaning. Check this out…

19 During the night God explained the secret to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven. 20 Daniel said:

“Praise God forever and ever,


    because he has wisdom and power.

21 He changes the times and seasons of the year.


    He takes away the power of kings


    and gives their power to new kings.


He gives wisdom to those who are wise


    and knowledge to those who understand.

22 He makes known secrets that are deep and hidden;


    he knows what is hidden in darkness,


    and light is all around him.

23 I thank you and praise you, God of my ancestors,


    because you have given me wisdom and power.


You told me what we asked of you;


    you told us about the king’s dream.” (Daniel 2:19-23 NCV)

Daniel now goes to the king and tells him that no man on earth could do what he was asking, BUT God in heaven could. Daniel proceeded to tell the king his dream and what it meant. This one incident propelled Daniel to be elevated to the leader of all the wise men. Daniel asked that his three-friends/prayer warriors be put in leadership positions and Daniel himself became part of the royal court.

God knows EVERY secret that I have. He knows the secrets of others to. There is NOTHING that He doesn’t know or understand. He knows all my dreams and all my nightmares. He knows my thoughts and my motives.  I would be wise to trust Him with all that I have and all that I know. He will advise me and direct my paths and reveal deep things when I pursue His heart. Secrets are not hidden from Him!
