Search & Rescue
If I were to get lost in the mountains while hiking and get disoriented, my wife (I’m pretty confident) would call for a rescue team. The first phase of that operation would be a search team. They would try to find me and then second phase is to rescue me or save me. If I’ve been injured or the elements have caused me harm, I may very well need medical treatment to save me.
That’s a pretty lame illustration of what the Lord does for me daily. I can get off the trail that leads to life and get sucked onto the trail that leads to death. I need search and rescue by the Lord on a daily basis. Check this out…
8 Let the Lord judge the peoples. Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. 9Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure— you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts. 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day. 17 I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High. (Psalm 7:8-11; 17 NIV)
The Lord examines and probes my heart every day. He’s the One Who created me and wired me and He knows that the control center of my being is my heart. There are constant assaults on my heart to try to break me and destroy my faith. The Lord is my strength and my protection against these attacks. I need the Lord to shield me and protect me. I need the Lord to search my heart and rescue my heart every day. I’m so thankful – that is exactly what He does!
